State Government fast-tracks Robina transformational project
Walker Corporation’s future masterplanned community Lakesview Robina will have a streamlined development assessment pathway after being selected by the Queensland Government to deliver a major boost to the State’s housing supply.
Lakesview will deliver 2,750 homes under the Queensland Government’s State Facilitated Development (SFD) program, which the Minister established to fast-track housing on land that is well-located with access to parks, essential services, and public and active transportation.
The SFD pathway streamlines approval processes for ‘shovel ready’ projects like Lakesview on infill land which boosts housing supply faster, with diversity and affordability, as well as encouraging transportation mode shifts.
Walker Director and Group Executive of Development Peter Saba said his project team are working with all levels of government to accelerate the delivery of homes for Queenslanders.
“Lakesview Robina is zoned for residential development and we’re ready to get going on delivering 2,750 apartments and townhouses for young families, key workers and first home buyers, in an outstanding lifestyle region close to public transport, universities, great schools, employment hubs, and the Council’s Greenheart,” Mr Saba said.
“The South East Queensland Regional Plan outlines a total of 161,700 homes needed over the next 25 years, which equates to around 6,500 homes per year, and 60% of this target is expected to come from infill sites like Lakesview Robina."
“Our community is masterplanned and ready to go in one of the best infill locations in the country, which is close to existing transport links and job networks including hospitals, universities, schools and hospitality where key workers need housing now."
“We look forward to collaborating with the Queensland Government and Gold Coast Council to deliver housing, jobs, services and infrastructure as part of an exceptional new lakeside community.”

Walker will progress with plans to submit a Preliminary Approval Application to increase the number of dwellings in the masterplan from 1,500 to 2,750, including approximately 550 affordable homes and over $150 million in community infrastructure.
“Our 20% affordable housing component will ensure Lakesview Robina can provide homes for frontline workers, in particular nurses, teachers and retail workers who are the heart and soul of what makes Robina a terrific, vibrant and diverse community.”
Walker has been working with expert consultants to develop advanced plans and will submit its final proposal to the State Government in early 2025.
Lakesview Robina will provide a diverse range of housing and will feature over 50 hectares of open space, including 15 hectares of lakes and wetlands, surrounded by pedestrian and cycle pathways connecting to All Saints Anglican School, the City of Gold Coast’s 257-hectare Greenheart Parklands, Robina Train Station and the nearby town centre.
The development will also include a central landscaped plaza and a community clubhouse with pool and recreation facilities, creating an energetic hub for current and future Robina residents.
